10 pictures of Bavaria

What seems like a lifetime ago, Rand and I were in Bavaria (turns out it was just this past spring). We try to visit southern Germany whenever we can, as my dad and stepmother live there.

On our last trip, by a strange confluence of events, we found ourselves there at the same time as my brother, who was flying back from Romania after shooting a TV show. Together, the three of us headed over (yes, in unison), to visit my father.

The poor, poor man.

Here are 10 pictures from our visit to Munich and the surrounding Bavarian countryside.

  1. My father’s favorite child, Anton. He likes to nibble on toes (the dog, not my dad).

His eyes just scream, "Take off your socks."

  2. Breakfast, courtesy of my stepmother.

    Carbs, glorious carbs.

  3. My brother and our dad, outside our father’s home.

I love that my brother and I both inherited our father's scowl.

  4. Village of Garmisch at night.

Note: it is still too cold to eat outside in Seattle, but people were doing it months ago in Germany.

  5. Creepy gargoyle, downtown Munich.

    Rhinoplasty by erosion.

  6. The flags on the Glockenspiel, downtown Munich.

Also pictured: the only cloud in the sky that day.

  7. The dorks men in my life.

I can totally see them starring in some awful buddy cop TV show.

  8. Gnomes! General store, downtown Munich.

    The must reproduce asexually.

  9. Self-portrait with Rand, Munich.

    Oversized aviators, FTW.

  10. Pathways in the English Garden, Munich.

Because a simple fork in the road would have been too easy. (Seriously, I almost had a panic-attack when I saw this.)

(Thanks, Dad, for putting up with the three of us. I know it was … challenging.)
