As a Brit now living in the USA, this is one of the things I'm sad I can't pass on and play with my 5 year old son. He'd be the only one at school with a conker and that would be sad :-) I loved playing this as a child and always looked forward to Autumn so we could start collecting conkers. Did you know there are different types? I seem to remember a "cheesecutter" (flat on one side) was pretty good to have. Ironically we live in Ohio, the Buckeye State, where there are millions of the bloody things lying around, waiting in vain. Great post, made me chuckle. Not limited to us Brits either - http://www.worldconkerchampionships.com - you guys will never understand our barbarian streak. You don't understand our love of Rugby either - you know that American Football-like game without helmets or padding - we even have a team called The Barbarians http://www.barbarianfc.co.uk - I'm in Seattle next week and challenge you and Rand to a couple of hours of both!
