Skylines, Museums, and Fog: 10 photos from San Francisco

I’m getting a little too comfortable with San Francisco. We go so often – probably a half-dozen times a year or so, that I’ve started feeling like I take it for granted. That city has an astounding amount of beauty and quirkiness (and just plain weirdness) to offer, but I’ve grown so used to it, I often to neglect to take photos.

I tried to rectify that a little on this last trip. I dragged my camera everywhere. I even – shudder – took a few photos inside a museum (it was for the good of the blog, so I hope you’ll forgive me). Here’s a recap of our trip, in ten photos.

  1. Quiet contemplation at the De Young Museum.

I am absurdly happy with how this came out.

  2. Row houses, San Francisco.

I used to want to live in one of these so badly.

  3. Rand at Muir Beach.

This is San Franciscan "beach wear."

  4. Lauren channels me. It’s like Single White Female, except less murder-y, and one of us is married.

She's wearing my hat. And my jacket. And my glasses. And they look cute on her. Crap.

  5. Electric car power station, Intercontinental Hotel, San Francisco.

I'm going to ignore the fact that most electricity comes from burning fossil fuels, otherwise I will cry.

  6. Mannequin with substantial global endowments, Tiburon, California.

I wonder what on earth they must look like in Los Angeles.

  7. The Golden Gate Bridge in the fog (or, you know, just the Golden Gate Bridge. BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS FOGGY.)

  8. Idyllic hill in the late afternoon, Bernal Heights.

I resisted the urge to Photoshop Godzilla in the background, but wouldn't he be adorable up there?

  9. The Wall at the Facebook Headquarters, Palo Alto, CA.

There is a wall at Facebook that you can literally write on.

  10. The same old nonsense, this time in Marin County.

    Eww. Yucky.
