I’m still weirded out when I’m asked to do interviews. I still feel like, even after all these years, that the blog (and even my book) are sort of a small, insular thing, and when people have heard of them, I find it oddly confusing. It’s like a stranger walking up to you and talking…

Long time readers of the blog (hello, weirdos! I love you!) will probably notice that things look a little different around here. I’ve just relaunched the blog, which was redesigned and built by the fantastic team at The Medium. If you’ve never had to redesign a blog, I’ll tell you truthfully: it’s normally not a…

I wrote a book. It’s nearly 300 pages long, so every English teacher I ever had can seriously go suck it because I HAVE MET ALL THE MINIMUM WORD COUNT REQUIREMENTS. (Just kidding, English teachers. You made me who I am.) And it’s now available for pre-order on Amazon, BarnesandNoble.com, and Indiebound. Real, reputable websites…

I Am Speaking at Women’s Travel Fest 2016

Sometimes organizers of events get drunk* and invite me to speak at things! As such am incredibly excited to announce that I will be a panelist at the Women’s Travel Fest this weekend in New York City, a conference and an honor for which I am largely unqualified. After taking a gander at the speaker page,…

For roughly 12 hours or so, I was part of Amazon’s Affiliate Program. It operates on a pretty simple mechanism. You sign up for the program, and then you can use special URLs on your site that link out to Amazon product pages. If anyone buys a product via your URL, you get a small…

I have very exciting news. This week, we’ll be launching a new design on the blog. For those of you who are unaccustomed to change, my apologies. I know how you feel – I’ve gotten irrationally angry when my favorite TV shows changed their opening credits. I like things to stay the way they are. But…

The Casualities of February: Leonard Nimoy, A Second Seahawks SuperBowl Win, and My Book Deal.

Posted on
Feb 27, 2015

“This month has kind of sucked,” I told Rand yesterday. When he began to dispute this (because to dismiss an entire February thanks to a few unfortunate events is antithetical to his logical and – somewhat paradoxically – upbeat nature), I merely whispered “Seahawks” and he immediately fell silent. “Man,” he said after a quiet…

What I’ve Been Up To: Speaking Gigs and Interviews

Phew.   Things have been a whirlwind lately. Rand and I just got back from New York yesterday, and he had to immediately fly to Vegas (like, immediately), so we got to say goodbye to one another at the gate, just like people did in the 90s. It was magical, and also garnered a few…

On Instagram @theeverywhereist

  • Some hardcore stuff happening in the studio today. #muglife #ceramics
  • Determined to pressure wash my deck on my own. First, I couldn't get the machine started (they gave me incorrect instructions, I later learned). Then a tube broke, sending water everywhere. I got soaked. They brought over a replacement machine and I FINALLY GOT TO PRESSURE WASH. For five minutes. Before it ran out of gas (they forgot to fill it). So tomorrow they'll be bringing me some gas. But if you are wondering why I don't just "do it myself", THIS IS WHY. 😅😂😭 #DIYFAIL #newhomeowner
  • Yesterday I picked up my James Beard Award from some of the most wonderful humans, wore it all around Manhattan while grinning like an asshole, and made my friends try it on at dinner.
  • He just walked from Hell's Kitchen to Chelsea with this cookie in tow for me. Who was I in a past life? Because I must have been a saint. #schmackarys
  • A friend gifted us this dish towel for obvious reasons. 😊
  • DnD night with @pippinwaffles.
  • MRI time. I should have clarified: this isn't for my brain tumor, but to make sure I don't have some structural problems in my hip. I'm fine. My brain is fine! 😊
  • He said he was proud of me and I said I was proud of the life we built together, if you are wondering what kind of mood I'm in today.
  • When you find out you've won a James Beard Award while walking down the street.
  • I am married to a very handsome man.

All Over The Place
