WTF Wednesday: Messing with Rand (a short play)

My husband is a lovely and trusting soul. He has this persistent and annoying belief that humans are good at heart, despite my greatest attempts to contrary. I can’t seem to quash his faith in people, nor eliminate that sparkle of hope that permanently shines in his eye. Behold:

Sparkle-tastic.

That doesn’t mean I haven’t tried.

Unfortunately, he’s now on to me, and doesn’t tend to believe most things I say (After I drove a friend of ours home from dinner, Rand asked if he got home okay. Me: “Yup, but he’s a lousy kisser.” Rand’s reply was, “Oh. I’m sorry to hear that.”) Fortunately, certain members of my family still have some degree of credence in his mind. For instance, up until a few weeks ago, Rand did not think my uncle was full of it, or at the very least, he figured he wasn’t trying to give him giardia.

Foolish Rand.

And so I present to you Rand’s afternoon with my uncle in Rome, or, How the Sparkle Turned Into a Scowl.

Act I:

Act II:

Act III:

Fin.
