Dorks on Film

I become a huge, unmitigated dork whenever anyone points a camera at me.

Okay, fine: I’m a huge, unmitigated dork in most circumstances, and that includes when someone points a camera at me.

See?

Often times, everyone else looks normal, and I look positively insane.

This was true even when I was a kid:

I can’t help it. I just get so darn excited when photos are being taken. Especially those absurdly cheesy photos they try to sell you at museums or tourist attractions. I positively love those.

In most of my photos with Rand, it looks like the poor guy is begrudgingly putting up with me.

Or that I’m accosting him in some way or another:

But lately, I’ve noticed a slight shift.Β When the camera is on him, I’ve found a bit of dorkiness peeking through.

To paraphrase Futurama, I’ve found that for once, he’s the one embarrassing me:

And honestly, I couldn’t be more proud.

Also pictured: Patrick, being a total goober.

  • Awwww, you look great in these pictures! They are a lot more fun to look at than the average ‘posed and’ photos! You show your quirky side and it is looking great!! Post more of these, they are great fun! πŸ˜€

I need to know where the shark picture was taken. My life will not be complete without me in that monster’s mouth.

    • Everywhereist

I believe it was somewhere in Southern Florida. The details escape me now.

    • It was outside the Bass Pro Shop in Ft. Lauderdale πŸ™‚

  • HA! I do the exact same thing, though in my opinion replace ‘geek’ with ‘exciting sexy beast’.

    • Not that i’m coming on to you, that’s my own reference to myself in pictures. (forehead SLAP!)

  • Mark

It is nice to know I am not alone. πŸ™‚

  • Dork-tacular!

  • Ken

Wow, Rand really likes that checked shirt, doesn’t he?

  • Kristy

    You guys are so adorkable.

  • Lil

Awww that’s so much fun. And I guess Rand also must really love his checked shirts πŸ˜‰

  • ROFL, good to see that Rand gets in on the action. But now I have the chorus of Duran Duran’s Girls On Film running through my head…

  • Purposeful dork beats my usual pose. Unintentional closed eyes. Especially if it’s the shot that everyone else in the photo likes best of themselves.

As a kindergarten teacher, I am so fascinated how my students react to getting their picture taken. I have some who really don’t like it. But I have plenty of kiddos who totally ham it up in front of the camera. And then beg to see it right after you take it. πŸ™‚

  • Love these pics – we do the exact same thing! If there is a goofy pic opportunity around us, I’m there. My hubby has become a very good sport over the years.

  • Chris

Thanks for the Duran Duran. My wife and I fluctuate between which of us is doing the embarrassing depending on the day, but I feel your pain.

  • Giselle

I think it’s a toss-up as to which of us looks more like a dork in that particular picture. πŸ™‚

  • Jessica

The butterfly picture is still one of the best.

  • Bev

The shark picture is really funny, there’s two kids there that have been squashed out by you two.

  • Have you seen our blog at all? yep .. our dog poses!!! Crazy pooch.

He was also instrumental in helping me finish my book - I sent Chad a chapter every month while working on my manuscript. He joked that I'd enlisted a dying man to help me meet my deadline. I hadn't emailed him in months, and just found out today that he passed away right before Christmas. It was a long time coming, but I am still blindsided by the loss.
