The Week in Travel: May 28, 2010
The hubby and I are trying to find the humor in the fact that we’ve been at home for the last few weeks and the weather’s been uncharacteristically miserable the entire time.
I mean, that’s funny, right?
No. No, it’s not.
And it’s not the only thing that’s been dragging me down: NASA’s footage of the Gulf oil spill is haunting. I literally couldn’t look away.
This, too, is heartbreaking, but in the best possible way: see one little boy’s reaction when he discovers he’s going to Disneyland.
Also, I want to visit this place. And hang out with these guys.
This is equal parts tragic and … Well, it’s just tragic. On the plus side, my husband can no longer give me a hard time because I’m “too into American Idol.”
Oddee has a cool roll-up of hijacked billboards (check it out to see what I’m talking about). Speaking of hi-jacked, their site has way too many ads.
I don’t know why these exist, but I can’t look away. These are bad, right? I mean, they can’t be healthy. They just can’t.
Nomadic Matt is looking for a summer intern. I suspect you have to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. I would apply, but I suspect I’d look like a 90210 cast member (i.e., a 30-year-old pretending to be a decade younger). Details on the internship here.
The folks at Anglotopia have released an e-book: 101 London Travel Tips. And trust me, if it’s your first time going, you really will want to keep your eyes on the pavement (Tip #85). But my personal favorite? Tip #26: Don’t mention the war. Sigh. If only Basil had listened.
Last night I had a dream in which I got a wedge of ham stuck in my hair. Which reminds me: Liz Lemon has ousted Carrie Bradshaw as our era’s new icon, and I couldn’t be happier. (via @DeannaNMc)

And speaking of things weird, adorable, and spooky – my hubby’s colleagues at Distilled (hee hee hee – I keed, I keed. I love you guys!) just celebrated their fifth anniversary. No small feat considering the newness of their field of expertise: SEO consulting.
Oh, and in the most important news of the week, my cousin’s Seattle gelato shop opens on Saturday. If you are anywhere near their Ballard avenue location, I suggest you visit.
