We should have learned from our experience back in Frigento that Google Maps could not be trusted in Southern Italy, but it was around the time we reached Positano that the lesson hit home. We’d spent the better part of the afternoon looking for a restaurant that Rand had read about, and found that…

I’m Going to Asia. Today. Wait, What?

It’s occurred to me that I’m not the best communicator. It’s not that I don’t communicate, mind you. I’m constantly telling people things. Sometimes it’s stuff that I probably shouldn’t tell them. Cambodia trip tomorrow. Just removed so much body hair, I’m pretty sure I’ve lost my mammal cred. #bikini — Geraldine (@everywhereist) June 19,…

Dinner On Our Hotel Balcony, Amalfi

The evening after you get back from Ravello, and your cab driver has just ripped you off to the tune of 20 euros, you will not feel much like spending more money on a lavish dinner. Besides, your lunch was lovely and late, and you aren’t particularly hungry. On that evening, is it perfectly acceptable…

I may have given you the impression that the only thing to see in Ravello is the Villa Rufolo. And that’s not entirely right. Sure, the Villa is the full-sized Reese’s peanut butter cup in your Halloween bag: hands down the best thing in there. But if you look around a little, you’ll find a…

  • Took a walk today, because, well, what else is there to do? Apparently a lot of folks had the same idea, because keeping my six feet of distance from everyone was tricky (I walked down the center of a lot of side streets). And while the sidewalks were full, the stores were empty and locked up - and it's so hard to see that and not know what the long term impact of this will be. A good reminder to support places if you can, keep your distance, wash your hands, buy gift certificates, tip your delivery driver, don't take more than what you need, and remember: we're all in this together.
  • Working on a book during a pandemic makes your brain weird.
  • When you own two couches, five loungers, and a love seat, and you both end up on the same chair.
  • Sobbing at this scene. So, so perfect. If you haven't seen I'm Not Okay With This - watch it. It's so wonderful.
  • Thinking I just need to make all of @alisoneroman's recipes and write about it, Julie & Julia style.
  • When your friend catches you going full Lady and the Tramp with your beloved over a noodle.
  • Latkes with dill and shallots, topped with creme fraiche plus salmon roe. Merry Chrismukkah to all.
  • Okay, I'll admit: I really like how these came out. I need to get more adventurous with glazes, but I'm so digging this shape.
  • A sneak peek at the photoshoot that @hayleyyoungshotme did this morning at @majesticbaytheatres. We're going to be featured in an issue of Seattle Magazine early next year - about Seattle couples. Super excited. Details and more of shots of amazing hair as we get closer to the publication date.
  • Couldn't see what the barber was doing, but when he said "You want a design?" I replied, "HELL YES" and this happened. I'm delighted with the results.
